Facts & Tips About Soy
Fact Unlike paraffin candles which are made from petroleum, soy candles are made from soy wax. Soy wax is made from natural soybeans that are grown right here in the v Soy wax burns cooler (slower) than paraffin, thereby increasing your burn time. v Soy wax candles produce very little (if any) soot and smoke. Soot should be avoided because it is very unhealthy and can eventually coat furniture and walls. Soy candles produce about 90% less soot that paraffin candles. v Soy wax cleans up easily with soap and water, but remember it is still a wax and should not be poured down the drain. v Wax spills are easy to clean - It's very difficult to remove paraffin wax from furniture or textiles. Soy wax spills can easily be cleaned up with hot soapy water. v Scented soy candles distribute more flavour - The incorporation of soybean oil lowers the melting point of the candle, which translates into cooler burning candles and faster scent dispersion. The lower melting point of soy wax results in a larger size of the liquid wax pool around the candle wick. It is from this liquid wax pool that the essential oils evaporate into the atmosphere. Tips for Safety, Burning & Care of Soy Candles 1. Please remove all wrappings, ribbons and tags before burning your new candle. 2. Candles have a great memory. That's why the first time you burn your new candle is so important. It is recommended that you allow your candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the outer edge of the jar. On an average it takes about 1 hour per inch of the candle's diameter. A complete first burn will allow your candle to have the longest burn life. After the initial burn, allow your candle to burn no more than 4 hours at a time. 3. Soy wax has a lower melt point so remember to keep your candles out of the sunlight, bright light, fluorescent lighting and sources of heat as this may cause your candle to sweat or discolor. If "sweating" occurs", place your candle in the refrigerator and it will quickly return to normal. 4. Don't forget to trim your candlewick to 1/4-1/2" prior to each burn. Keeping your wick trimmed will prevent smoking, soot and high flame. Make sure no trimmings are left in the wax. 5. When traveling with your candles, be careful as extremes in temperatures will melt or freeze our great candles. 6. Keep your candles away from drafts to prevent smoking. Drafts will cause your candles to burn unevenly and may present a fire hazard. 7. Store candles in a cool, dry place to prevent fading and fragrance loss. 8. Always burn candles on a protected, non-flammable, heat resistant surface. Never burn a candle on, in or near anything flammable. 9. Extinguish candles by gently blowing them out or using a candlesnuffer. Do not put the lid back on the jar while burning. Do not use water to put out candles! 10. To prevent heat damage or fire, discontinue the use of your candle when only 1/2" wax remains in the bottom of the jar. 11. Do not move your candle while it is burning or while the wax is still hot. The jars may become hot and you may get burned! 12. Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets. 13. NEVER leave a burning candle unattended! TIP: If an off center wick is causing your candle to burn unevenly, use a metal spoon to gently push the wick back to the center while the wax is still soft. We know that once you see how wonderful soy candles are you'll never want to go back to paraffin again. Enjoy your soy
Soy wax is a natural non-toxic, renewable, and biodegradable wax; therefore, it is an excellent choice for those wishing to burn natural, environmentally friendly candles in their home or workplace. Although once fragrance oil or dye is added to soy candles they cannot be defined as completely natural.

TIP: If your wick smokes after being put out, dip a toothpick into the wax and touch the tip of the wick.
